Carrying a samurai sword to India?

I am a resident in Dublin, Ireland and I am a citizen of India. I bought a samurai sword shop on eBay. And I like to take this sword to my home in India. What is the best way to do? Can I put in the luggage? If so, do I have to declare it in the airport? Or is it better to send through a courier or so? Please help me with valuable advice.
